The Pistol Permit Office regular hours is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM., and is closed Mondays and and Fridays and Holidays. No appointment is necessary. THE PISTOL PERMIT OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED AT NOON ON 10/30/18 AND REOPEN AT 8:30 AM ON 10/31/18. THE OFFICE WILL ALSO BE CLOSED ALL DAY ON 11/01/18.

3) Transfer either into or out of this county

Fees involved in acquiring a permit are as follows are to be paid with CASH ONLY: Applications MUST be purchased in the CCSO Pistol Permit Office, we do NOT accept forms downloaded from the internet.

Pistol Permit/Safety Training Class: $20.00
Pistol Permit Safety/Training Classes:
Classes are required for any current pistol license holder seeking an upgrade to UNRESTRICTED as well as new applicants seeking an UNRESTRICTED pistol license. All classes are on Saturday - 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Cost is $20.00 (payable at the time of class by CASH ONLY). It is necessary to arrive at 8:00 AM to check-in, so that the class can start promptly at 8:30 AM.
The Chemung County Sheriff's Office is offering the required pistol permit course on January 5, 2019 for both NYS and Bradford County, PA residents. The class will be held at the HRC Building at 425 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY 14904 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. The class will be limited to a maximum of 150 attendees. You MUST register, NO WALK-INS WILL BE ACCEPTED.You cannot register for the safety class until a completed application is on file with our office.
